Selecting a supplier to support a new pension product

We took advantage of UK pension reforms to develop a new market proposition for our client.

The Challenge

The pension reforms announced in the 2014 budget had enormous implications across the UK life and pensions market.

Our client wanted to take advantage of these reforms to develop a new market proposition and asked us to help support the launch.

Our Approach

Our client had made a long list of potential suppliers and our knowledge of the UK platform market allowed us to quickly narrow it down.

We succinctly summarised the new proposition and system requirements and used it to assess each of the suppliers’ ability to deliver what was required.

A series of structured meetings, supported by a light-touch evaluation process allowed us to identify two providers that our client could then discuss the more detailed requirements with.

We supported our client through the commercial negotiations and into the implementation phase.

The Outcome

We expedited the selection process for our client and brought rigour and an independent assessment they couldn’t deliver themselves.

The work we did in advance of contracts being signed ensured that our client and their chosen supplier had full sight of the desired go-to-market proposition and operating model.
