An assessment on whether to acquire a firm

We undertook a thorough analysis on behalf of our client, scrutinising an acquisition target on growth opportunities and whether they would be a good fit.

The Challenge

Our client was a technology-focused business process outsourcing provider.

When they identified a fraud and analytics software firm as a potential target for acquisition, they asked us to perform the commercial due diligence and to determine the potential growth opportunities of this acquisition.

Our Approach

First, we got to know our client’s growth objectives.

Our in-depth analysis of the target firm highlighted relevant opportunities for growth in both the UK and international markets, through existing and new customers.

We also reported on opportunities to extend the application of the firm’s systems into other areas and channels.

Lastly, we analysed the strategic fit of the two companies.

All of this formed a comprehensive report, which supported the acquisition and outlined numerous business growth opportunities ready to be implemented.

The Outcome

Our client told us that our report was ‘exactly what they needed’ and used it to present the potential acquisition to the Board for approval.

Following the completion of the acquisition, our report was then used by the client as the basis for an initial 100-day integration plan.
