Implementing a data strategy

We helped a large asset manager set up and operationalise data governance and management across the business

The challenge

Our client, an asset manager with approximately £50bn AUM,  had recognised the importance of data to the organisation and the need to create a Single Source of Truth

The client recognised that in order to achieve this it would require a significant investment in resources and technology

The client needed access to experts in Data Strategy Implementation to develop their implementation plans, define a detailed data governance framework and design the target architecture

Our approach

PEN provided a Programme Manager and Enterprise Architect to work with the existing teams to plan the programme and design the target data architecture

We set up and ran a programme with 4 key workstreams

  • Data Governance
  • Data Quality
  • Data Architecture
  • Data Tools

We utilised our data and change methodologies to develop the building blocks to implement data governance and data management across the business

The outcome

There is now a defined data vision aligned to the business strategy that is supported by the Executive Team

The data strategy implementation is fully mobilised and a data toolkit is in place to enable the implementation of the data strategy across the business. This includes a data policy, data governance and data quality framework

The data architecture is designed and a supplier selection process has selected tools for data governance and data discovery
