IT Investment Programme

We helped a UK bank improve its overall systems and core functions through providing solution delivery and project management expertise.

The challenge

An Irish State-owned bank needed to deliver an IT investment programme as a major part of its post-crisis recovery plan.

They had a budget of c.€30m and a timeline of 2.5 years to deliver the improvements.

PEN was brought in, reporting directly to the Executive Committee and was tasked with 3 key objectives;

  • Improving the collections and credit risk systems
  • Upgrading critical Finance & Treasury systems
  • Building a strategic management information solution

Our approach

We managed the programme of work through the full lifecycle from inception to close-down as well as embedding support back into the business as usual functions.

This involved mobilisation of the various streams and vendor negotiations, a high-level solution design that was capable of meeting the set objectives and ongoing stakeholder management at ExCo and Board level.

Our team were responsible for budget agreement, allocation and management, ensuring the agreed solution was delivered, tested and successfully deployed and ensuring business readiness and support for ongoing management of the platform.

The outcome

The biggest fear of the bank’s Board was that the programme would spiral out of control on costs and timescales at a critical time for the business.

We were able to allay those concerns by delivering fit for purpose solutions and diligent professional programme management that delivered on time and within budget.
